W. KINLAW AND WIFE TO J. C. BULLARD STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA BLADEN COUNTY. THIS DEED Made this 15th day by A. W. Kinlaw and wife of Bladen County and State North Carolina of of the first part, to J. C. Bullard of Bladen County and State of North Carolina of the second part: WITNESSETH, That said A. W. Kinlaw and wife Alice Larena, in consideration of twelve and 50/100 dollars, to them paid by J. C. Bullard, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold, and by these presents do bargain, sell and convey to said J. C. Bullard and his heirs and assigns, a certain tract or parcel of land in White Oak Township, Bladen County, State of North Carolina, adjoining the lands of E. F. McNeill(?) and G. W. Register and others, and bounded as follows, viz: Beginning at a stake in the side of the public road leading from Elizabethtown to Clinton, the A. W. corner of lot no. 1, and runs S. 5 1/2 W. 2 chains and 50 links to a stake in the edge of said road, then S. 82 1/2 E. 1 chain to a stake, then N. 5 1/2 E. 2 chains and 50 links to a stake, then N. 82 1/2 W. with lot no. 1 to the beginning, containing 1/4 of an acre, more or less, being lot no. 2 of a number of lots sold by said A. W. Kinlaw and wife at (?), NC. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the aforesaid tract or parcel of land, and all privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging, to the said J. C. Bullard, his heirs and assigns, to their only use and behoof forever. And the said A. W. Kinlaw and wife A. Larena, covenant to and with the J. C. Bullard, his heirs and assigns, that they are seized of said premises in fee, and have a right to convey the same in fee simple; that the same are free from all incumbrances, and that they will warrant and defend the said title to the same against the claims of all persons whatsoever IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, the said A. Davis do hereby certify that A. W. Kinlaw and A. L. Kinlaw, his wife, personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution of the annexed Deed of Conveyance; and the said A. L., being by me privately examined, separate and apart from her said husband, touching her voluntary execution of the same, doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily, without fear or compulsion of her said husband, or any other person, and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto.
