W. KINLAW AND WIFE TO G. W. REGISTER STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA BLADEN COUNTY. THIS deed made this 10th day of Feby, 1897, by A. W. Kinlaw and wife and wife Rena Kinlaw of said County and State of N. C., of the first part, to G. W. Register of Bladen County and State of North Carolina of the second part: WITNESSETH, That said A. W. Kinlaw & wife Rena, in consideration of the sum of twelve dollars and fifty cents ($12.50), to them in hand paid by G. W. Register, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hath bargained and sold, and by these presents do bargain, sell and convey to said G. W. Register, and his heirs and assigns, a certain tract or parcel of land in White Oak Township, Bladen County, State of North Carolina, adjoining the lands of A. W. Kinlaw, J. Martin, and others, bounded as follows, viz: Beginning at a stake in the edge of the public road, the second corner of lot number 2 and runs S. 5 1/2 W. 2 chs 50 links to a stake in the edge of said road, then S. 82 1/2 E. 1 ch to a stake, then 65 1/2 W. 2 chs & 50 lks to the 3rd corner of lot number 2, then N.(?) 82 1/2 W. with line of lot no. 2 to the beginning, containing one fourth of an acre, more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land, and all privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging to the said G. W. Register, his heirs and assigns, to his only use and behoof forever. And the said A. W. Kinlaw and wife Rena covenant to and with the said G. W. Register, his heirs and assigns, that they are seized of said premises in fee and have a right to convey the same in fee simple, that the same are free from all incumbrances, and that they will warrant and defend the said title to the same against the claims of all persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said A. W. Kinlaw & wife Rena hath hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above written. A. W. Kinlaw (seal) A. L. Kinlaw (seal) Attest, E. F. McCullock North Carolina, Bladen County I, Chas. T. Davis do hereby certify that A. W. Kinlaw and A. L. Kinlaw, his wife, personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution of the annexed deed of conveyance; and the said A. L. Kinlaw, being by me privately examined, separate and apart from her said husband, touching her voluntary execution of the same, doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily, without fear or compulsion of her said husband, or any other person, and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto. This 10th day of Feb. 1897 Chas. T. Davis, J. P. The foregoing certificate of Chas. T. Davis, of Bladen County, is adjudged to be correct and sufficient.
