W. KINLAW AND WIFE TO E. J. McCULLOCK STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA BLADEN COUNTY. THIS DEED Made this the 24th day of September, 1890, by A. W. Kinlaw and wife Mahala C. Kinlaw of Bladen County and State of North Carolina of the first part, to E. J. McCullock of Bladen County and said State of the second part: WITNESSETH, That the said A. W. Kinlaw and wife, in consideration of thirty seven and 50/100 dollars, to them paid by the said E. J. McCullock, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hath bargained and sold, and by these presents doth bargain, sell and convey to said E. J. McCullock and his heirs and assigns, a certain tract or parcel of land in White Oak Township, Bladen County, State of North Carolina, adjoining the lands of M. W. Tatum and bounded as follows, viz: Beginning at a stake in A. W. Kinlaw's line and runs No. 32 W. 3 1/2 chains to a stake, thence no. 55 E. 4 1/2 chains to a stake, thence So. 35 E. 3 1/2 chains to Kinlaw's line, then with his line S. 55 W. 4 1/2 chains to the beginning, containing one and one half acres, more or less. Conditions are that if the said E. J. McCullock ever wishes to sell or dispose of the above described land, that he will give A. W. Kinlaw or some of his sons the first chance of buying the same. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land and all privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging, to the said E. J. McCullock, his heirs and assigns, to their only use and behoof forever. And the said A. W. Kinlaw and wife covenant to and with the said E. J. McCullock, his heirs and assigns, that they are seized of said premises in fee, and hath the right to convey the same in fee simple; that the same are free from all incumbrances, and that they will warrant and defend the said title to the same against the claims of all persons whatsoever IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, the said A. Bullard State of North Carolina Bladen County I, J. J. Cain, an acting Justice of the Peace in aforesaid county, do hereby certify that A. W. Kinlaw and wife Mahala C. Kinlaw personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution of the foregoing deed; and the said Mahala C. Kinlaw, being by me privately examined, separate and apart from her said husband, touching her voluntary execution of the same, doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily, without fear or compulsion of her said husband, or any other person, and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto.
