W. KINLAW AND WIFE TO W. J. DAVIS STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA BLADEN COUNTY. THIS DEED Made this 23rd day of October, 1900, by A. W. Kinlaw and A. L. Kinlaw of Bladen County and State of North Carolina of the first part, to W. J. Davis of Bladen County and State of North Carolina of the second part: WITNESSETH, That said A. W. Kinlaw and A. L. Kinlaw, in consideration of twenty five dollars, to them paid by W. J. Davis, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hath bargained and sold, and by these presents doth bargain, sell and convey to said W. J. Davis and his heirs and assigns, a certain tract or parcel of land in White Oak Township, Bladen County, State of North Carolina, adjoining the lands of A. W. Kinlaw, A. C. Thompson, J. C. Bullard, and others, bounded as follows, viz: Beginning at a stake A. C. Thompson's Southeast Corner and about thirty feet East of said Thompson's stake(?) and runs East with J. C. Bullard's line 165 feet to a stake in A. W. Kinlaw's line, thence South with Kinlaw's line 165 feet to a stake D. C. Thompson's Southeast Corner,thence West with Thompson's line 68 feet to a stake, thence direct to the beginning, containing one forth of an acre, more or less. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the aforesaid tract or parcel of land, and all privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging, to the said W. J. Davis, his heirs and assigns, to their only use and behoof forever. And the said A. W. Kinlaw and A. L. Kinlaw covenant to and with the said W. J. Davis, his heirs and assigns, that they are seized of said premises in fee, and hath the right to convey the same in fee; that the same are free from all incumbrances, and that they will warrant and defend the said title to the same against the claims of all persons whatsoever IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, the said A. Bullard do hereby certify that A. W. Kinlaw and A. L. Kinlaw, his wife, personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution of the annexed Deed of Conveyance; and the said A. L. Kinlaw, being by me privately examined, separate and apart from her husband, touching her voluntary execution of the same, doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily, without fear or compulsion of her said husband, or any other person, and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto.
