Butler ==================================================================== Book 7 page 301-302..Bladen County, North Carolina This indenture made the 4th day of November 1799 between Peter Smith of the one part and James Smith of the other part both of the County of Bladen & State of N. Carolina. Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the sum of ten pounds to him in hand paid by the said James Smith the receipt whereof the said Peter Smith do hereby acknowledge doth grant bargain sell convey alien & confirm unto the said James Smith his heirs & assigns forever a certain piece or parcel of land containing 100 acres more or less situate lying & being in the County of Bladen on the east side of Ellis Creek granted to Peter Smith bearing date January 22nd 1779. Beginning at a White Oak on the east edge of the Swamp at Elizabeth Harrisons upper line & runs thence N 55 E 127 poles to a stake thence N 30 W 127 poles thence So 5 127 poles [ed; should read S 55 W 127 poles], thence direct to the beginning together with all improvements appurtenances thereto belonging or in anywise appertaining. To have & to hold the said lands & premises unto him the said James Smith his heirs & assigns to thereby proper use & benefit & behoove of the said James Smith his heirs & assigns forever the said Peter Smith for himself & his heirs or assigns Exec. & Admins. do forever warrant & defend the said land with all the promised with all the appurtenances unto him there said James Smith his heirs & assigns shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presents .
