BLADEN COUNTY, NC - DEEDS - Daniel Willis To Thomas Rowland, 4 Apr 1772 ----¤¤¤---- DANIEL WILLIS DEED TO THOMAS ROWLAND Bladen County, NC 1772 Deed Book 23, No. 225, pages 309, 310, 311 This indenture made Apr 4th 1772 between Danl. Willis Planter of Bladen Co. and province of North Carolina of the one part and Thos. Rowland Planter of the Co. and province aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the aforesaid Danl Willis for and in consideration of the sum of forty pounds procl money to him in hand paid by the aforesaid Thos. Rowland before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and thereof do acquit release and forever discharge the aforesaid Thos. Rowland his heirs Exrs* Admrs* and every of them by these presents have granted bargained sold or aliened and confirmed and by these present do fully freely and absolutely grant and bargain sell alien release and confirm unto the aforesaid Thos. Rowland his heirs and assigns all that plantation or tract of land containing 200 acres be the same more or less situate lying and being in Bladen Co on Indian Swamp N.E. of Ashpole or Tadpole Swamp Beginning at a White Oak on he Western side of said Swamp a little above the mouth of a small branch and running thence N. 85 W.23 chs [chains] 20 lks [links] to a Water Oak then S. 5 W. 44 chs 43 lks to a stake among three pine pointers then N. 5 E.44 chs 73 lks to a stake among three pines pointers thence S. 85 E. 44 chs 73 lks to a stake having two pine pointers then N. 5 E. 44 chs. 73 lks then N. 85 W. to the beginning or may more fully appear by the patent dated May 4th 1769 and duly recorded in the Secretary's office and entered and enrolled in the Auditor General's office in the province aforesaid Together with all and singular the buildings improvements orchards meadows ways woods waters water courses rights liberties hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise of right appertaining and the said reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and profits thereof To have and to hold the said 200 acres of and hereditaments and premises hereby granted or mentioned to be granted with their appurtenances and every part and parcel thereof unto the aforesaid Thos. Rowland and his forever and that free and clear from all manner of encumbrances whatsoever the one half of all gold and silver mines together with the quit rents or the said bargained land only excepted and reserved to the use of his Majesty and successors forever And the aforesaid Danl Willis for himself his heirs Exrs* and Admrs* doth covenant promise and grant to and with the aforesaid Thos. Rowland his heir sand assigns by these presents that he the aforesaid Daniel Willis and his heir the hereby granted premises and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the aforesaid Thos. Rowland his heirs and assigns against him the aforesaid Daniel Willis and his heirs and against all and every person and persons whatsoever ["The Court denotes the omission of the following words claiming or to claim shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents And further that the aforesaid Daniel Willis and his heirs and all and every other person and persons whatsoever" Items in quotation marks was written in the left margin] having or lawfully claiming or that shall or may at any time or times hereafter do have or claim any right title or interest of in or to the said prebargained premises or any part thereof by from or under him or any of them upon the reasonable request cost and charges in the law of him the aforesaid Thos. Rowland his heirs as assigns shall and will sign seal and deliver any such further and other instruments or instruments of writing whatsoever for the further and better assurance and confirmation of the hereby granted premises with eh appurtenances unto the aforesaid Thos. Rowland his heirs and assigns foreve or by him or them or by his or their counsel learned in the law shall or may be reasonably advised devised or required.
