He served as a private in Capt. Hearndon's Company under command of Col. Thomas Brown for nine months. He then reenlisted in the fall of 1777 under Capt. Charles Bullock commanded by Col. Brown and served three months. This militia was formed from parts of Bladen that now include the Counties of Robeson and Columbus. BRYANT volunteered a third time in 1781 in Capt. Willis' Company. He was engaged in several skirmishes with Tories including one at Cross Creek and one at Moore's Creek Bridge. He petitioned for pension on 27 July 1833 from Bladen at the age of 76. He was born on Brown Marsh in Bladen on May 14, 1757. There was no additional family information given.
