JOHN T. GILMORE has recently sold to MR. JOHNSON of Bladen, 300 acres of pine land (all one tract) for $25 per acre. Ten years ago this land was worth $1 an acre. It is unimproved. Five years ago B.M. DEVANE, ESQ. bought a tract of land for $2,200, improved it slightly an expense of $300 to $400, sold a part (including the improvement) for $1,000; and has sold the remainder for $3,500. These sales were in the Terebinthe neighborhood near the Bladen County line; and in the same neighborhood an offer of $3,500 for a tract of land bought nine years ago since for $1250, has been declined by the owner. MR. JOHNSON, who bought the lands from MAJ. GILMORE, sold his lands on the Colly Swamp in Bladen for $32.50 an acre -- a very large advance on their recent value, but how much we cannot state. We are glad to see these signs that Cape Fear lands are approximating to their value, as compared with those in other states and other parts of our State. Lands in Buncombe and McDowell are actually higher than in this section of the State. -- Fayetteville Observer File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/bladen/newspapers/salesofl92nw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ncfiles/ File size: 1.8 Kb
