LEONARD BRISSON _____ Correspondence of The Robesonian. Lumberton, R. 5, Mr. Leonard Brisson died Monday Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. at his home in the Allenton section. He had been in poor health for several uyears, but had not been confined until Thursday, Feb. 1, he had a heart attack. He had been confined in bed since that time. Mr. Brisson was the son of the late Margaret Roberts and Reuben Brisson. He was born in Bladen county June 22, 1859. In 1882 he was married to Rebecca Phillips, who died six months ago. He is survived by 4 daughters, Mmes. K. L. Davis, Walter Taylor, who was living with him at the time of his death, Willie Smith, and C. A.Mercer, one son son, Troy Bris- son, all of the Allenton section; 2 brothers, R. W. Brisson of St. Pauls, D. R. of Daytona Beach, Fla; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Fish- er of St. Pauls, Mrs. Mary Stone of Eustus, Fla. The funeral was held from the home Feb. 7 by his pastor, Rev. E. A. Paul, assisted by Rev. W. Earl Robinson, pastor of the First Baptist church at St. Pauls, Music was furnished by the Lumberton quartet. Services were concluded at the grave in the Phillips ceme- tery, near by. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Harvey Brisson, assisted by the grandchildren. Mmes. James H. McCormick, Curtis Stephes, Jim- mie Lewis, Acy Burchette, Stephen Brisson, Misses Thelma and Kath- leen Taylor, Elsie and Ann Mercer, and Florence Brisson. Pallbearers were his grandsons, active – Gil- bert and Theodore Mercer, Steph- en and Reuben Brisson, Dellie Brisson, Roland Davis, Wallace and Roy Taylor; honorary – Har- vey Brisson of Lumberton, G. I. Fisher of St. Pauls, Shelton West, Andrew Mercer, J. I. Burchette, Prof. J. N. Walker, all of Allenton and Lumberton; K. M. Biggs, A. P. Page, Eli Wishart, Sheriff E. Clyde Wade, Deputy F. E. Bris- son, John Parnell, all of Lumber- ton; D. B. Lancester of St. Pauls, Will Russ of Bladenboro, Joe Mer- cer, J. M. Smith, Richard Stephens, W. B. Parnell, B. F. McLean, A. L. McLean of the Allenton com- munity. Mr. Brisson was a member of Antioch Baptist church and at- tended services when able. For the last few years he was not able to attend. He had many friends in the community who will miss him. The family wishes to extend their thanks to their neighbors and friends for the kindness and sym- pathy shown them during his ill- ness and death.
