All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sam West sam.west.1@gmail.com February 3, 2013, 9:45 pm N C Archives MARY HESTER BRITT of Bladen Co NC & Robeson Co NC Brethren E R Phillips & E Phillips being at the June conf requested to write on the Christian walk of our deceased sister Mary Britt do submit the following (viz) Whereas it pleased Almight God to rem Over by death our much esteemed sister Mary Britt from our midst on the 29th day of May last in the 72nd year of her age she was born in the county of Bladen on the 14th day of Aug 1788 where she was raised up by the most strictest parents the late Thos Hester who was remarkably strict in his most wholesome family decipline after which she married the late Jacob Britt and removed to this county where she lived the most honorable & intelligible life until nearly 30 years ago she connected herself to the Baptist church at this place after which she lived as she died a Christian in the highest sense of that term truly pious she comforted strangers was hospitable to the poor was a friend to the father leSs a mother to the afflicted and a loving mother in Israel her aimiableneSs of temper her scrupulous integrity of character had endeared her to all who knew her will may her neighbors weep for a true friend whose place cannot be supplied is gone and gone forever she has left a family and numerous relatives to mourn their loSs but to them we can say weep not your mother and your relative is resting from her cares your loSs is her eternal gain she is gone from this scene of labor and conplied to her long sought home for up in the skies ages may roll on over her dust and the heavens may flood the earth with showers of desolation but nothing shall break the eternal silence of her slumbers until the Arch Angel as he flies between heaven and earth shall sound the trump that shall rend the fetters of the grave and summons the unnumbered dead before the bar of final judgement then disease will recken and die then the living and the death will be transformed and live then will the familiar face of and void of out old and much esteemed sister again greet us through our bleSsed savious Resolved Therefore 1st That we will ever cherish the memory of the departed sister and deeply simpathise with the family of the deceased in their bereaved condition Resolved 2nd That we sincerely deplore the loSs of one whose vacancy in the church is so solemn 3 That from the noted position in which Our departed sister stood as a member Of this church we deem it our duty to Spread this upon our ministries 4 That these proceedings be sent to the biblical recorder with a request for publication.
