GLADYS MARIE KINLAW BRITT DOWLESS

   SUFFOLK – A funeral for Gladys Dowless, 73, was held Saturday at 2 p.m. in 
Community Baptist Church, Bladen County, N.C.  Burial was in the church 
cemetery.

   Dowless died Wednesday in a hospital.

   Dowless a native of Robertson, N.C., was the widow of Isaac H. Dowless.

   She was a member of First Baptist Church in Dublin, N.C.

   She was the mother of Franklin Chief of Police John Grady Britt.

   Besides her son, she is survived by three daughters, Irma Wilson and Sybil 
Burgess, both of Miami, and Daphney Howell of Suffolk; a son, Russell Britt of 
Escondido, Calif.; four sisters, Dora B. Baker of Fitchburg, Mass., Mrs. C.D. 
West of Lumberton, N.C., Mrs. Dobie K. Lee of Richmond and Myrtle Kinlaw of 
Fruitland Park, Fla.; and two brothers, Carlyle Kinlaw of Henderson, N.C. and 
John E. Kinlaw of Lumberton, N.C.
