Bladen

   Died in Bladen county, N. C., July
9th, 1879, Joseph Lyon, aged 74 years,
6 months and 2 days.  Bro. Lyon was
one of our oldest citizens, he was a
man of strong mental powers until a-
about 3 years before his death, his mind
from an unknown cause, became im-
paired, and he had but few lucid in-
tervals until death.  About 6 years
before his death he was impressed with
the necessity of consecrating himself
to the service of God; he professed
conversion and joined the Methodist
Church, and remained faithful until
death.  He leaves four children to mourn
their loss.  May they at last constitute
an unbroken family in heaven.
