Biblical Recorder 09/19/1888
   Alex. McDonald, register of deeds for
Bladen county, was fatally shot by a
young lawyer named White last week.
They had quarreled about the way in
which McDonald had reported White in
the newspapers.  At this meeting the
quarrel was renewed, when McDonald
commenced to beat White.  The latter
drew a pistol and shot McDonald in the
body.  White also shot and painfully
wounded a son of McDonald.
