MARY S. PATE DIES AT PEMBROKE –PROMINENT WOMAN SUCCUMBS AFTER ILLNESS OF YEAR – FUNERAL AND INTERMENT IN BLADEN COUNTY Mrs. Mary Alice Pate, 73, died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J.A. McCormick, with whom she made her home, in Pembroke, Tuesday at 11 p.m. after an illness of a year with the infirmities of age. The body was prepared for burial here and held at the Biggs Funeral home until 1 p.m. when it was taken to Mt. Horeb church, near Council, Bladen county, for funeral at 3 p.m. Burial was made in the church cemetery there. Services were in charge of Rev. F.B. Noblitt, pastor of Moss Neck Methodist church, of which she was a member. Deceased before marriage was Miss Mary Alice Savage of Council. She was married to Mr. E.A. Pate, for whom the town of Pates was named. Mr. Pate died 35 years ago. Surviving are 2 children – Mrs. J.A. McCormick and Mr. E.S. Pate, and a grandson, William Arnold Pate, all of Pembroke; 2 brothers - Messrs. Ed and Jack Savage of Council.   Additional Comments: 1st Husband: William McCormick 2nd Husband: E.
