Fleming Miss Julia Pitman, 54 years old, died at her home in upper Bladen Saturday morning of paralysis. Funeral services were conducted from the church at Bladen-Union Sunday at 11 a.m. by the writer, who is the pastor, assisted by the Rev. R.L. Byrd, a former pastor, before a packed house of loving and sympathetic friends. Interment was made in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Messrs. Jack Carter, Currie and Ernest Council, Arthur and Northrop Musselwhite and Colon Caine. Flowers were borne by members of the Sunday-school class of which Miss Pitman was a member fed by the teacher, Mrs. Lonnie Jackson, and followed by Mesdames J.C. Raybon, W.J. Ward, W.A. Jackson, W.H. Tyson, Charlie Brisson, Randolph Hulin, Barney Lamb, and Miss Pearl Carter. The grave was beautiful under the embankment of flowers. Miss Pitman was a good woman. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was a most excellent neighbor and faithful-church attendant. She had nothing too good for her church and she was there at every service if not providentially hindered. We all mourn her going; for she will be sorely missed. Her faith was manifested by her useful service in her home, in the neighborhood and in the church. The immediate loved ones to mourn her departure are one brother, Mr. Buck Pitman of R. 4 from St. Pauls; 2 sisters, Mrs. Andrew Howard of High Point and Miss Cornelia Pitman of R. 7 Fayetteville, with whom she lived; and 2 nephews, Messrs. Bennie Howard and W.R. Pitman, all of whom have our sincere and unbounded sympathy.   File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/bladen/obits/p/pittman3223gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ncfiles/ File size: 2.3 Kb
