Shore DavidS3919@aol.com ***************************************** Will of John Devane, dated 14 September 1783, probated June Term 1806, registered in Bladen Co., NC in the Office of the Registrar of Deeds, Book 36, p. 1, and in the Office of the Clerk of the Superior Court in Will Book 2, p. 374. In the Name of God, Amen: I, John DeVane, being of sound mind and memory, thanks be unto God for the same; and taking into consideration of this moral life and that it is appointed to all men once to die, do recommend my soul to God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried at the discretion of my executors hereinafter mentioned and as touching such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner: I give and bequeath unto my son John, one tract of land on Long Creek where James Hall now lives and two negroes, Lewis and Diner. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Tabitha two negroes, Peg and Leah. I give and bequeath to my son George the plantation whereon I now live and two negroes, Frank and Sampson. I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann two negroes, Judy and Leny. I give and bequeath to my daughter Margaret two negroes, Eli and Charles. I give and bequeath to my daughter Rebecca two negroes, Delia and Dool. I give and bequeath to my son William two negroes Tom and Wiley. The remainder part of my estate my beloved wife is to have the use of as long as she lives single and if she should marry it is to be equally divided between her and her children above mentioned. And lastly I nominate and appoint Thomas Devane, Senior and Timothy Bloodworth and James Bloodworth to be my executors of this Last Will and Testament.
