All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sam West sam.west.1@gmail.com June 4, 2014, 1:23 pm Source: Bladen County, Nc Will Book Written: 1770 In the name of God Amen The fourteenth day of September in the year of our Lord 1770 I Thomas Mustlewhite of the County of Bladen and Province of North Carolina being very sick and weak in body but of Perfect mind & memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make & ordain this my last will and testament. that is to say principally and first of all I give & recommend it to the earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my executors & nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God & as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life. I give devise & dispose of the same in manner & form following Impremis. It is my will & I do order that in the first place all my just debts & funeral charges be paid and satisfied. Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Jesse Mustle White one shilling sterling Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Thomas Mustle White one shilling sterling Item I give and bequeath unto my loving daughter Amey one shilling sterling Item I give and bequeath unto my loving daughter Elizabeth one shilling sterling Item I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Mary Mustle White all the remainder of my estate both real and personal during her widowhood & in case she marrys a child’s part Item My will and desire is that my seven daughters Winny, Ellen, Bridget, Mary, Amelia, Patience and Sarah have an equal part of all my movable estate except my negroes to them their heirs & assigns forever Item I give and bequeath unto my four sons Milbay, Nathan, Thomas, Alexander Mustlewhite all my lands and negroes to be equally divided ------------------------------------------------------------ Between them likewise to have and equal part of the moveable estate to them their heirs and assigns forever I constitute and ordain my loving wife Mary Mustlewhite Executrix and my loving son Milbay Executor of this my last will and Testament And I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and dis annul all and every former Testaments wills Legacies and Executors by me in any way before this time named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament In witness where of I here unto set my hand and seal the day and year above written Signed sealed published And pronounced and declared} by the said Testate as his { last Will and Testament } in the presence of us { The Subscribers ~ } Thomas Mustlewhite {Seal} Ithamar Singletary { his } Richard x Thomas { mark } her { Caroline x Singletary { mark } Bladen County Will Book pages 553-554, Bladen County Courthouse, Elizabethtown, NC. Additional Comments: Surname is Musselwhite. Thomas Musselwhite migrated from Isle of Wight Co VA south to southeastern NC, and settled in that part of Bladen Co NC, which is now in eastern Robeson Co NC. At least four of the sons, Alexander, Milbea, Nathan and Thomas Musselwhite, later served as soldiers during the Revolutionary War.
