This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Jason Bordeaux bordeaux@rconnect.com ==================================================================== Josiah Sikes will, recorded in will book 2, page 311, Bladen County, NC: In the name of God Amen, I, Josiah Sikes being of perfect mind and memory blessed be God, do this 23rd day of May in the year of our Lord 1812 make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and following that is to say: I give and bequeath to my loving wife Elizabeth Sikes all my stock of every kind, household furniture and kitchen furniture, riding chair, plantation tools and all other movable property that I posses at this time to her heirs and assigns forever, also the plantation whereon I now live containing about two hundred acres, I give to my wife Elizabeth during her natural life. Secondly: I give and bequeath to Luke Sikes and his brother David Sikes sons of Josiah Sikes, Junr. the above mentioned plantation after the death of my wife Elizabeth Sikes to them and their heirs and assigns forever. Thirdly: I give and bequeath to the above mentioned Luke Sikes one shotgun to him and his heirs forever. It is my desire that my executors should sell one hundred acres of land joining the above mentioned plantation lying on the west side of Carvers Creek and the proceeds arising from such sale to be appropriated to the support of said wife Elizabeth. And I do hereby make and ordain my friend David Llyod my executor and my wife Elizabeth Sikes my executrix of this my last will and testament.
