James Shipman, Daniel Shipman 18 September 1799 Book 1, Pg. 392 Bladen County, N.C. Wills In the name of God "Amen" I, Daniel Shipman of the County of Bladen and State of North Carolina, being of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be God, do this the eighteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following: - That is to say - * First - I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Ann Shipman and my daughter Ann Ames and Frances Elener the following negros to be equally divided between them: Emon, Jacob, Esther, Robens, Cuff, Stewart, two Jims, now Lenores children, Harry, David, Tom, Charity, Cleresey, Bess, Jack and Jane. * Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter Rebecca the following negros: Ben, Phasey and her children, Charlotte, Adam, (?Gibs?), Will, Fred, Jinny and Will, her son. * Item - I give and bequeath to my daughters Ann Ames and Frances Elenor the plantation where I now live, it being four tracts or parcels of land containing eleven hundred acres of land, to them and the heirs of their body forever. * Item - I give and bequeath the remainder part of my land to my daughter Rebecca to her and the lawful heirs of her body forever. * Item - The remainder of my estate to be equally divided between my wife and daughters Rebecca, Ann Ames, and Frances Elenore. * Item - It is my will that all my lawful debts be paid and my law suits carried on at the joint expense of all my legatees. * Item - It is my will that my Executors shall dispose of such part of my daughter Rebecca's land as they shall think proper for the benefit of my daughter and I hereby make and ordane my beloved wife and worthy friends John Waddell, James Moorehead and my brother James Shipman Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof, I the said Daniel Shipman have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day and year above written. Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said Daniel Shipman the Testator as his last will and testament in the presence of us who were present at the time of the signing and sealing thereof.
