Richard Mullington - 1776 - Bladen County, NC - Wills Submitted for use in the USGenWeb Project Archives by Butch Butler 13 May 1776 God In the Name of God "Amen" I, Richard Mullington of the County of Bladen and the Province of North Carolina, being well in health, in body and in sound and perfect mind and memory Blessed be to God - do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament as follows, that is to say. I resign my soul unto the hands of God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried hoping through the merits of my Savior Jesus Christ to have a glorious resurrection at the last day and as for my worldly estate, I give, devise and bequeath in manner and form following. In premis. My will and desire is that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid. * ITEM - I give and bequeath to my Grand Son Josie Lewis 110 acres of land lying in the South West side of the Brown Marsh Swamp, joining the upper line of land formerly belonging to William Wooten deceased and near the property of William McNeill, together with my Chest of clothes, books of all sorts, one Large Bible, excepted my bed and furniture, my horse bridle and saddle, to him, his heirs and assigns forever. * ITEM - I give and bequeath unto my grand daughter Silence Green, one negro mulatto girl named Lucy to her and to her heirs and assigns forever. * ITEM - I give and bequeath unto my grand daughter Ann Green, on negro girl named "Bets" to her and her heirs and assigns forever. * ITEM - I give and bequeath to my Grand Son Richard Mullington Lewis, one negro girl named Phillis with one Large Bible to him, his heirs and assigns forever. * ITEM - I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Lucy Lewis, one negro wench named Moll, that is to say, the said wench only. Her children hereafter after the body if any to ge given and disposed of as hereafter mentioned or directed the said wench to her her heirs and assigns forever. * ITEM - I give to my Grand Sons Aaron and Moses Lewis, one man, branded on the cheek, shoulders, and flanks, thus "S", with the increase of said man to be equally devided between them. * ITEM - I will and desire that the children hereafter shall or may be born of the aforesaid wench, Moll, bequeathed to Lucy Lewis, should be delivered to the young children according to their birthright, beginning with Aaron Lewis, then Moses and so down to the youngest. * Lastly, I give and bequeath to my Grand Son Josiah Lewis all the remaining part of my estate, Real and personal, whether negroes, money, debts, or anything to one belonging or appertaining. And I do hereby appoint, constitute and ordain the said Josiah Lewis, my one and lawful Executor of this my last Will and Testament, and no other. Revoking and disannulling all other Wills by me made. Allowing, ratifying and confirming this and no other to by my last will and testament. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this 13th day of May in the year of Our Lord 1776.
