State of No. Carolina}  Know all men by these presents that
Brunswick County     }  we, John N. Hartsfield and Asa A.
Hartsfield of the County of New Hanover and State aforesaid,
for and in consideration of the sum of thirty dollars lawful
currency of said state to us in hand paid by Jonathan Rothwell
of the County of Brunswick and State aforesaid at and before
the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof
we and each of us doth hereby acknowledge, ____, ______, released,
and forever quit claims from us, our heirs, executors, and admin
istrators, and by these presents doth ______, release and forever quit
claim unto the said Jonathan Rothwell, hiss heirs, executors and
administrators all and singular our right, title, interest,
property, claim and demand whatsoever which we once had, now
have, or may hereafter have both at law and equity as lawful
heirs of John Hartsfield, Sen'r. dec'd. or which we, our heirs,
executors or administrators can, shall or may have claim, challe
nge or demand, in and to two hundred & fifty eight acres of land
more or less - Situate, lying and being in the County of Brunswick
Bounded as follows namely, on the north by Weyman Creek
and lands owned by Navid Taylor on the west by lands owned by
the said Jonathan Rothwell, on the south by lands owned by
Joseph Cow and on the east by lands owned by Moses King and
which will more fully appear, refference being had to two deeds

of conveyance, one executed on the 30th day of January One
Thousand Eight hundred and Seventeen by Jesse Townsend to
the said John Hartsfield, Dec'd. and another executed on the 8th day
of December in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hund
red and Eighteen by Joseph Geaser? to the said John Hartsfield
Dec'd. containing in the aggregate three hundred & fifty acres
of land more or less in witness whereof the said John N. Har
-tsfield and Asa A. Hartsfield have hereunto set thier hands
and seals the twenty-seventh day of June in the year of
Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirty seven
