Wilmington Chronicle May 5, 1796
   On Thursday last, came on the annual election for members of assembly for 
Brunswich County, when GENERAL SMITH was chosen Senator and W. E. LORD and 
ABRAHAM BEZANT were chosen Commoners. 
   At the same time and place was held an election for a representative in 
congress. The State of the poll is as follows:
   WILLIAM HENRY HILL - 99
   JAMES GILLESPIE    - 11
   JAMES KEENAN       - 00
   GABRIEL HOLMES     - 00
