BUBCOMBE COUNTY, NC - DEEDS - Land Grant to Joseph Sorrells, 11 Dec 1800 ----¤¤¤¤---- North Carolina Secretary of State Land Grant Records: File No. 907A, Buncombe County, to Joseph Sorrells, Grant No. 864, issued December 11 1800, Entry No. 7856, dated June 22 1800, recorded in Book No. 112, Page No. 120, 200 acres on both sides of Newfound Creek: "State of North Carolina, Buncombe County} Warrant of Survey, No. 7856} James Henry, Entry Taker of Clames for Land in the County aforesaid to the Surveyor of said County, you are hereby required as soon as may be to lay off and survey for Joseph Sorrals Two Hundred acres of land lying on Newfound Creek, Beginning on a small white oak marked J.S. running down said creek for complement, entered the 22nd day of January 1800, and return the works of survey to the Secretarys office together with this warrant observing the acts of the General Assembly in such case made and provided, given under my hand at office the 23rd day of April 1800. {Signed} Joseph Henry" "North Carolina Buncombe County. By virtue of the within warrant No. 7856 and entered the 22nd day of January 1800, I have surveyed for Joseph Sorrells two hundred acres of land on both sides of Newfound Creek, beginning on a white oak on the East side of the creek and running South two hundred and fifty four poles to a post oak on ridge, thence West one hundred and twenty seven poles to a stake, thence North two hundred and fifty four poles to a stake, thence East to the beginning. [Joseph Sorrells land was taken into Haywood County when it was formed. He was the husband of Millie Sorrells, both of Virginia, and was the son of Sarah Sorrells.
