BUBCOMBE COUNTY, NC - DEEDS - Land Grant to Joseph Sorrells and Thomas Foster, 26 May 1806 ----¤¤¤¤---- North Carolina Secretary of State Land Grant Records: File No. 928A, Buncombe County, to Joseph Sorrells and Thomas Foster (Forrester), Grant No. 899, issued May 26 1806, Entry No. 7442, dated April 18 1798, recorded in Book No. 112, Page No. 402, 50 acres on the West side of the Pigeon River opposite the Flower Gardens: "N. Carolina, Buncombe County} By virtue of the within warrant no. 7442 and entered April the 18th 1798, I have surveyed for Joseph Sorrells and Thomas Foster fifty acres of land on the West side of Pigeon River opposite the flowery garden, beginning on a maple on the bank of the river attached and runs South seventy degrees West seventy six poles to white oak, thence South sixty five West thirty two poles to a black oak, thence South thirty five East forty eight poles to a stake on the banks of the river, thence North seventy two East one hundred poles to stake, thence down the river including its meanders to the beginning. Craven" [Joseph Sorrells land was taken into Haywood County when it was formed. He was the husband of Millie Sorrells, both of Virginia, and was the son of Sarah Sorrells.
