C. He was born in County Antrim, Ireland, January 13, 1756. He enlisted in January, 1775, and served eight tours, over two years in all and to the close of the War, in South Carolina troops under Captains Thomas Gordon, William Waddleton, or Waddington, James Lisle, David Dickson or Dixon, Caldwell, Frederick Lipham, and Colonels John Lisle, Jack, Brannam, Philemon Waters, and James Miller. He was in the battles of Rocky Mount, Hanging Rock and Fishing Creek. In 1772 he moved to Charleston, S. C., and a short time later to Ninety-Six District, that part which later became Newbery District. In January 1782, he moved to Colonel Earl's Station in Rutherford County and in 1790 he moved to Green River in Buncombe County, N. C. He was still living May 29, 1839.
