Nov. 24, 1859 North Carolina Argus November 24, 1859 -- We learn from a private letter received by a gentleman on a visit to this City, that a man by the name of WAYNE has been arrested in Buncombe County, N. C. by DR. HILLIARD and MR. PATTEN, who took him out of his bed. He says he killed a man in Virginia, but it is supposed he was connected in some way with the Harper's Ferry Affair. An intercepted letter contains evidence sufficiently to bring him to justice. It is said that there is a reward of $500 offered for him by the Governor of Virginia. He had $700 in money on his person when arrested, which he handed over to his lawyer. The people of the Southern States should be on the look-out for all suspicious-looking characters. -- Columbia Guardian File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/buncombe/newspapers/suspicio266nw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ncfiles/ File size: 1.4 Kb
