Thurs., April 21, 1808, Raleigh Minerva April 21, 1808
   ASHEVILLE, BUNCOMBE COUNTY, April 10 -- Our Superior court ended  
yesterday – DENNIS had his trial on Thursday last and was acquitted. WEST was 
tried for the murder of MR. JAMES CRAIG, on the following day – the trial was 
lengthy, occupying the attention of the Court more than 24 hours; but on 
Saturday morning, about 10 0’clock, the jury gave in the verdict – Guilty, and 
JUDGE LOCKE immediately pronounced the sentence of death. He is to be executed 
on Friday, the 6th day of May next.
