Rev. Dr. Chas. W. Byrd, one of the
most prominent ministers of the West-
ern North Carolina conference, died
at his home at Asheville, where he was
pastor of Central Methodist church.
Thursday following a stroke of ap-
oplexy   He was born near Dunn and
was 58 years old.  His wife and one
son survive.
