Mrs. Lura Thorpe   1966
  Services for Mrs. Lura Revis Thorpe, 67, of 57 Elkwood Ave., who died Friday 
will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Richland Bapitist Church, where she was a 
member.  The Rev. Glenn Callahan and Rev. Jim Persell will officiate and 
burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dennis and Carl 
Thorpe, David Lee, Paul Waldrop, Hector Pena, Durard Bradley, Richard Revis 
and Leroy Gentry. 
  Mrs Thorpe was a native of Madison County an had lived in Buncombe County 
for the past 42 years.  Survivors include the husband, John Wesley Thorpe; a 
daughter, Mrs Oscar Lee of Holly, Mich.; four sons, James Willard, Clifford 
and Clifton all of Asheville, and Fred Wesley Thorpe of Swannananoa:; four 
sisters, Mrs. Cora Massey of Asheville, Mrs Bertha Chandler of Wallnut, Mrs. 
Leona Centry of Marion and Mrs. Maggie Rice of Charlottesville, va,; two 
brothers  Luther of Marion and Herman Revis of Morganton; 13 grandchildren and 
11 great-grandchildren.   
  Arrangements are under the direction of Berryman-Hall Funeral Home.
