Born Oct, 20, 1869 at Glen Alphine, NC
Educated in the common schools.
Entered railway service 1882 as water boy, since which he has been 
consecutively to 1885, section laborer and track walker Western North 
Carolina Ry;
1885 to 1889, section and extra gang foreman;
1889 to 1891, work-train conductor;
1891 to 1893, track supervisor;
1893 to 1900, flagman, freight and passenger conductor same road and its 
successor Southern Ry;
1900 to 1904, work-train conductor, supervisor and roadmaster;
1904 to 1906, trainmaster and roadmaster;
1906 to 1907, assistant superintendent;
1907 to date, superintendent;
entire service with the Western North Carolina and Southern Rys.
