Burke County, NC - Burke Militia - Act to Attach, 1827 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ An Act to add all that part of the second regiment of Militia of Burke county, lying south of the Catawba river in said county to the first regiment Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That a majority of the part of the second regiment of Burke county militia, lying south of the Catawba river in said county, if they deem it expedient, are hereby authorised to attach themselves to the first regiment of said county: Provided, that such arrangement shall not reduce Captain Conley's company to a less number than eighty privates exclusive of commissioned and non-commissioned officers; any law to the contrary notwithstanding.
