Burke County, NC - Military - William Wines, War of 1812 Pension Application ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is a typed transcript I developed from a photo copy of the original application for pension by my Great great grandfather William Wines for a pension for his service in the war of 1812. My transcript tries to make a note of things that were uncertain because of the handwritten copy's not being clear. The original of this application was located in the Greene County, Illinois, courthouse by a volunteer in the genealogical society of that county. This is the place where my grandfather settled a few years after being "mustered out" of the army in Missouri. Copy of transcript: This is a printed transcript (produced by Edward C. Wines from a copy of the original handwritten application) of the Pension Application of William Wines of Greene County dated May 16, 1848 and having to do with his War of 1812 military service. The original is handwritten, and is presumed to be in the handwriting of a clerk in the court since William is always referred to in the 3d person. It is apparently William’s signature at the end of the document. It is as accurate as the legibility of the document permits.
