The Semi-Weekly Messenger (Wilmington NC) 9 August 1898
Cling Fleming, of Upper Creek Township, was fatally cut by Tom, his son,
Saturday night. The latter attempted to kill his wife and son, when the latter
did the cutting. The son was badly wounded. It is a good family an the affair is
deplored.

(Cling Fleming was living with his family in Madison county in the 1880 census.)
