C., WILLIAM L. FORNEY, son of MARCUS L. and LOUISA FORNEY, in the 24th year of his age. He was born in January, 1840, and died on the 15th of March, 1863. He joined the 1st N. C. regiment in Morganton in the spring of 1861 and was in the fight at Bethel under General Hill. He volunteered again under CAPTAIN MCDOWELL, whose company united to the 56th Regiment and was in the battle at Fredericksburg, and was among the number that attacked a Yankee battery and took it with a loss of seven men killed and wounded, after a North Carolina - South Carolina regiment had charged and failed. After the battle he became diseased and was removed to the hospital at Charlottesville. He was brought home on the 8th of March and died on the 15th.
