BURKE COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Donald Carroll "Donnie" Honeycutt, 22 Nov 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Donald C. Honeycutt MORGANTON, N.C. -- Donald Carroll "Donnie" Honeycutt, 63, of Fred Williams Avenue, Morganton, died Monday, November 22, 2004, at the VA Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., following a period of declining health. Mr. Honeycutt was born September 19, 1941 in Carter County, Tenn., and was a son of Zeb D. Honeycutt and Myrtle Smith Honeycutt, Roan Mountain, Tenn. Mr. Honeycutt was a U.S. Army veteran, and a graduate of Milligan College in Johnson City, Tenn. Donald was a retired truck driver, and an avid gardener and fisherman. He was a faithful and active member of Hopewell Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and served on many church committees. He was a Scottish Rite 32nd degree mason and a member of the Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge #566. He was preceded in death by a brother, Shelbourne Honeycutt. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Brenda Johnson Honeycutt, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nikki Honeycutt Costello and Scott Costello, Arden, and Carol Honeycutt Holden and Josh Holden, Morganton; grandsons, Andrew Costello and Jacob Holden; a sister- in-law, Anne Honeycutt, Morganton; his best friend, Jim McKinney, Roan Mountain, Tenn.; godsons, Michael and Mark McKinney; and a large extended family. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 26, at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Homer Murdock officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 25, at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes before the funeral hour. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 2329 Fred Williams Avenue, Morganton.
