Died

About the 15th ult. at his seat at Pleasant Garden in Burke County in this 
state, Joseph M'Dowell, jun. Esq. He had for eight years past represented the 
county of Burke in the General Assembly of this state and having adopted and 
pursued the principles of the maxim, "That what was moraly wrong, could never 
be politically right," he was no less admired for his abilities than esteemed 
for his integrity which would have led him to the highest honours of his 
country, had he not been thus untimely cut off in the prime of life. His 
amiable manners had endeared him to his particular acquaintance, who will long 
regret his loss. He has left a sorrowful widow and several young children
