Wynn, aged 76 years, 1 month and 28 days; thus ending a long and eventful life. He was a soldier in the U.S. army during the war with Mexico, also of the Confederate army during the late war with the states; a good soldier, a brave and true man. For some years past his health has been declining. The once strong and brave man has fallen; age and disease with insidious step has conquered at last and he is no more. Some three years ago, during a series of meetings held at the Court House in Morganton by Rev. Mr. Tilman, an evangelist from South Carolina, Mr. Wynn made a profession of religion. For the last few months of his life he has spent much of his time in prayer and religious conversation. His death was no surprise to either himself or his family. He was ready and willing to go at his Master’s call. He leaves a wife and son, Mr. C.H. Wynn, Jr., together with a large number of relatives and friends, who mourn the absence of husband, father, brother and friend. C. Additional Comments: Coke Hill Wynn is the alias of Whitman Blanton son of Charles and Sarah (Wilkins) Blanton born in Shelby, Rutherford County, North Carolina.
