Written: May 27, 1818

In the name of God & man, I Joseph Fair, Senr of Burke County in the State of
North Carolina do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and
form as follows: My just debts to be paid. (1)  I give to my loving wife Nancy
the use of my plantation where I now live hir lifetime As much thereof as will
soport hir and after hir death to be eqully divided between my two sons William
and Elijah Fair. 
(2) I give to my wife Nancy all my house and furniture and one Cow and Calf and
at her Decese to go to my two daughters Polly and Betsey,  Also to these two
girls Betsey and Polly foure head now Cattle at present to them and their heirs
for Ever. 
(3) I give all the rest of my loose property of Every kind to my wife Nancy Fair
hir lifetime in witness whereof I set my hand and seal this the 27th day of may
1818.

Additional Comments:
Joseph Fair Senior and Elizabeth Nancy Choate Fair had known children in order:
 Joseph Fair, Sherwood Fair, William Fair, Elizabeth Fair, Polly Fair, Elijan
Fair and perhaps Tempy Fair.  The family lived on Abingdon Fork of Lower Creek
between Lenoir and Collettsville, NC.  They first appear in the 1800 Burke
County Census.
