Bute County, NC - John Walker Revolutionary War Pension, 1832 ~~~~~~~~~~ October 12, 1939 Mrs. John C. Lesher Modesto, California Dear Madam: Reference is made to your letter in which you request the Revolutionary War record of John Walker, a pensioner, residing in Wake County, North Carolina in 1835. The data furnished herein were obtained from papers on file in claim for pension S.7796 based upon the military service of John Walker in the Revolutionary War. John Walker was born in the month of December, 1755, in Bute (which later became Warren) County, North Carolina. The names of his parents are not given. While a resident of said Bute County, John Walker was in the battle of Guilford Court House, no further details of this service given. He enlisted sometime in April, 1781, served one year under Captains Pink Eaton and William Lytle in the North Carolina Troops. He was allowed pension on his application executed November 22, 1832 at which time he was a resident of Wake County, North Carolina, where he had lived since the close of the Revolution. The papers on file in this claim contain no discernable family data other than a reference to a brother of the soldier, John Walker.
