I give and bequeath to my beloved son John Perdue that tract of land where on he now lives from Jonathan Johnsons Creek down to Owens Creek of the north side of the said creek....Thirdly I give and bequeath to my two beloved sons Joel Perdue and Morris Perdue the land and plantation where on I now live to be divided between them at the discretion of James Moore and that they may have the benefit of the land as soon as they have judgement to manage their business and the house and plantation I give the use of and benefit of to my beloved wife during her life....Fourthly and likewise I give and bequeath to my beloved wife my lot of land that I had of John Dawson during the time I leased it for and her life and if she should die before the time is out I give it to my son Richard Perdue...Fifthly I give and bequeath to my three sons, William Perdue, Joseph Perdue, & Adams Perdue five shillings of sterling a piece....Sixthly I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Phebe Perdue one feather bed and furniture and Seventhly and lastly I do give and bequeath to my beloved wife my three negroes Jack, Peter & Will to have the use of during her life and at her death & the aforesaid negroes are living or any of them I give to my beloved sons Richard Perdue & Bevel Perdue & Liliston Perdue to be praised by fit persons with the rest of my estate not yet mentioned which I also give the use of to my beloved wife during her life & then to be divided with the praised value of the negroes between my three beloved children; Blackman Perdue, Sally Perdue and Ann Perdue and if the value of the negroes be more than that of the household estate and stock then the above aforesaid persons to wit; Richard & Bevel & Liliston shall pay out of their value, so that they, the six last named children shall have a just and equal division of all....Item, I give and bequeath to my beloved son Field Perdue one feather bed and furniture to be paid at the death of my wife or before if it can be spared....as also I do appoint James Moore and my wife Sarah Perdue my whole and sole executors of all my business in witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and fixed my seal this 24th day of March 1768. February Court 1769 This Will was proved by the oaths of Susannah Moore & Ann Moore the witnesses hereto and on motion it was ordered to be recorded - Then James Moore one of the Executors herein named quailified as such which was ordered to be certified. Test; Ben McCulloh C.C. Additional Comments: John Perdue first appears in Henrico Co., VA as early as 1734 when he presented the inventory of Ann widow of John Powell. He witnessed the Will of Gilbert Gee in Henrico Co., in 1734. He patented 400 acres of land in Chesterfield Co., VA in 1746 located on the south side of Sappony Rd. John Perdue became part of Amelia Co., VA when it was formed in 1734. He is mentioned in a judgement against Judah Israel in Amelia in 1743. John Perdue, John Perdue Jr., Joseph, Josiah and William Perdue were listed as titables 1736 - 1764 in Amelia Co., VA. John Perdue Sr. divided his 400 acres in Amelia Co., VA between his sons John and William and moved to Granville Co., NC by 1761 John Perdue was father of fourteen children by two wives. Sarah mentioned in John's Will was Sarah Adams daughter of John and Kathleen Adams. Her birth was recorded in Bristol Parish, Henrico Co., VA 30 April 1726. In 1760 John Perdue and wife Sarah sold land originally granted to John Adams by patent dated 20 June 1733.
