Bute County, North Carolina - Wills Will of William Rieves Probated February 1778 Bute County, North Carolina In the name of God Amen I William Rieves of the province of North Carolina in the County being very Sick and weak of body but in perfect mind and memory thanks being given to god for the Same Calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die I make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to Say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul to the hands of almighty God that giveth it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but general Risurection I Shall the same again By the Mighty of God and as touching Such worldly Estate where With it is pleas God to bless me with in this life I give divide and dispose of the same in the following manner and form First I leave to my beloved wife (Elender) Rieves during her life her widowhood after my just debts are paid all and singuld my Estate Excepting to Fredrick Rieves one shot gun to Richard Rieves one shot gun to _______ Reeves one shot gun to _______ Reeves one shot gun and to after her diseace to be equally divided amongst my Children Fredrick Rieves and Henry Freeman I make my executors of this my last will and testament and I hereby _____ disallow revoke and disonul all and every other former testament wills _____ bequeaths and Executors by me in any wise made Willed and bequeathed Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my last Will and testament in witness where of I has here unto set my hand and seal this 15 day of October in the year of our lord 1776 Signed Seald published purnounced and delivered by the Said William Rieves as his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have here unto Subscribed our name his William X Rieves his mark Howel X Freeman, ___ mark his Fredrick X Rieves mark North Carolina Bute County February Court 1776 This will was presented in court and proved by the oath of Howell Freeman one of the witnesses hereto and the same was ordered to be recorded, And probate was granted to Frederick Reeves and Henry Freeman on the ___ who were Qualified accordingly Test.
