Perhaps he did not enlist in Cabarrus, but he was born there about 1795 and married Esther Suther there in 1817, and lived there until he moved to Alabama. He was enrolled in Capt. John McLean's company, Col. Pearson regiment, Graham (?) brigade, Pinkney division, at Saulsberry, NC on 1 Feb 1814, and was honorably discharged at Saulsberry, Rowan Co, NC on 7 Aug 1814. I obtained most of this info from his pension info at the National Archives. He began drawing a pension for his service when he was living in Tallapoosa Co. AL.
