March 11th 1863 Dear wife I seat myself to drop you a few lines in answer to yours kind letter bearing date March 2ND which came to hand last satersaday. It found me well, I was glad to hear that you were all well and healthy. This leaves me in the enjoyment of health and I hope it may find you enjoying a like the blessing of God. I have nothing new at this time , we still have rain or snow here every few days. It snowed a little last night, it had been cludy & raining for several days before, it has faired off pretty and warm to day. I am on guard to day, the was news here is nothing at this time. There were several cannon fired off over on the Yankeys side of the river. It is thought that General Stuart is in their rear or on their flank, I tell you old Stuarts cavalry brothers their they dread him. The health of our company is good at this time. You said that you you had been trying to send me something to eat. I it is a bad chance for when some of our company goes home every fellow wants him to bring him something. I will close, very few lines for this time. Write soon nothing more. Your husband truly, till death. Lenard Alman To Caroline Alman
