All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Carolyn Shank Carolynshank@msn.com November 12, 2008, 10:17 am Thurs., June 14, 1810, Raleigh Minerva June 14, 1810 JAIL BUILDING The Subscribers having been appointed by Act of General Assembly of North Carolina, Commissioners for building a jail in the town of Concord for the County of Cararrus, and wishing to engage a person qualified to undertake the same, do invite all persons who are disposed to contract for the work to make application and give in proposals to the Commissioners at the court-house in said town, on the 2nd day of July next, when and where a meeting will be held by them for the purpose of receiving and considering of such proposals as may be made, and entering into contracts for building a Jail of the following dimensions and materials to wit: -- 30 by 20 feet, two stories, the outside wall of brick, and the inside of that part of the building designed for strong apartments to be walled and lined with wood. – A full description of the plan, the different rooms and the quality and consistency of the materials will be made known on the day appointed for receiving proposals.
