CABARRUS COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Margaret Earnhardt Benfield, 16 Feb 1920 ----¤¤¤¤---- Concord Daily Tribune, Thursday, February 10, 1920 Facts About Mrs. Benfield Mrs. J. R. Benfield died at her home in No. 2 township Monday, Feb. 16, 1920. She had been an invalid for eight months. Before her marriage she was Miss Margaret Earnhardt of Mecklenburg County, where fifty years of her useful life was spent, and the remaining thirty seven she spent in Cabarrus County. She was a devoted Christian, uniting with Mallard Creek Presbyterian church where she was a young girl, and when moving to Cabarrus, she united with Poplar Tent Church, until later, when Patterson Presbyterian Church was organized. She is survived by a devoted husband, Mr. J. R. Benfield, and three sons and one daughter as follows: Mr. R. C. Benfield of Concord, Mrs. J. B. Alexander who was with her during her illness, Mr. Solomon Benfield of Fairburn, GA, and Mr. Mathew W. Benfield of Switch, Texas also twenty grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted from the home of Mr. R. C. Benfield by her pastor, Rev. W. C. Wauchope, assisted by Rev. Mr. Gibson of Kannapolis.
