CABARRUS COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Mary Hunter Benfield, 31 Jul 1952 ----¤¤¤¤---- Obituary: Mary Hunter Benfield, Concord Tribune newspaper, Thurs July 31 1952, Cannon Memorial Library, Concord, NC. Benfield Rites Set Friday Funeral rites for Mrs. R. C. Benfield, 81, who died at her home 81 Academy St., 2 am today will be held at 4 pm Friday from McKinnon Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member. The Rev. Oren Moore, pastor, will officiate. Her grandsons will be pallbearers. The body will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Internment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Mrs. Benfield was born to the late Andrew Greer Hunter and Isabelle McConnell Hunter in Mecklenburg County, Nov. 7, 1870, and has lived in Concord since 1902. Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. G. T. Waddell, Mrs. J. T. Hutchins, and Mrs. Stella Lavender, all of Charlotte; five sons, John A, Willie E., E. G. and Earl Benfield, all of Concord, and R. Carl Benfield of Charlotte; tow brothers, F. M Hunter of Greensboro and W. B. Hunter of Washington DC; two half sisters, Miss Nell Hunter and Mrs. John Latimer, both of Chester SC; a stepmother, Mrs. A G. Hunter of Chester SC, 28 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was the widow of the late R. C. Benfield who died in 1939. The body will remain at Wilkinson's Funeral Home until 10 am Friday, at which time it will be taken to the home. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
