C. ARGUS Thursday, January 28, 1864 N. C. ARGUS (Wadesborough, Anson County, NC) Drowned: We learn that Capt. Saml. P. CALDWELL, of Cabarrus county, was drowned in Coddle Creek, at Pitts’ Bridge, on Tuesday night the 12th inst. He was returning home from Concord, and from some cause unknown, the buggy in which he was riding was thrown off the abutment of the bridge, and he [fell] into the water, where he was found dead next morning. He was about 50 years of age, and leaves a wife and four children – Western Democrat.
