Tuesday, April 5, 1904, THE MONROE JOURNAL (Union County, N.C.)
Warren C. COLEMAN, one of the wealthiest negroes of the State, died Thursday 
at his home in Concord. Born and raised in Concord, he lived and labored 
there, took care of his investments and soon became wealthy. His influence was 
felt far and near, and he was a real benefactor of his race. Some years ago he 
undertook the building of a mill, the Coleman Manufacturing Company at that 
place, operated by negroes, and whatever degree of success it attained was due 
entirely to COLEMAN. COLEMAN owned a little property in Monroe.
