Elmer Barnhardt Obit The Daily Independent – Kannapolis Monday, Sept. 11, 1972 Elmer Barnhardt Elmer Barnhardt, 80, of 302 Goldston Ave., died at 1:45 p.m. Sunday at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital following several years of declining health and a serious illness of six weeks. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church by Rev. Paul Berrier and Rev. Byron Fox. Interment will follow in Kannapolis Cemetery. The body will remain at Whitley’s Funeral Home until taken to the church at the funeral hour. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 9 p.m. today. Mr. Barnhardt had made his home here since 1919 and was formerly employed by Cannon Mills Co. No. 4 Carding Dept. He served in the U.S. Army in World War I. He was a native of Stanly County, the son of the late Sidney T. Barnhardt and Mrs. Julia Hatley Barnhardt. Surviving are one daughter, Miss Edith Barnhardt of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Thompson and Mrs. Ruth Connors, both of Kannapolis; three grandchildren.
