May 18, 1960 George Lowder (picture included) Funeral services for George Lowder, 75, of 203 North Rose avenue will be conducted Thursday at 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles C. Coffey, pastor, will officiate, in association with the Rev. Raymond O. Brinkley of the First Baptist church at China Grove. Interment will follow in Charol in a Memorial Park. The body will be taken from Whitley’s to the home today at 4 p.m. Mr. Lowder died at 9:05 p.m., Tuesday at Cabarrus Memorial hospital. In declining health a number of years he was seriously ill two weeks. A native of Stanly County, he was the son of the late Daniel Lowder and Mrs. Elizabeth Holshouser Lowder. He lived in Kannapolis 47 years and employed in No. 6 Weave room at Cannon Mills Plant 1 until his retirement several years ago. He was a member of the First Baptist church and was active in the YMCA sponsored Retired Workers Club. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Addie Mae Lindsey Lowder; two daughters, Mrs. Clara Lambert and Mrs. Iva Dell Owens of Kandar and Lloyd Lowder of Kannapolis and Ned Lowder of Fayetteville; two brothers, Claude Lowder of Kannapolis and Daniel Lowder of Mt. Pleasant; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Penninger of Rockwell; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
